When I was a small kid my neighbor used to take me to the library every Saturday. I’d take out seven books at a time, one for each day of the week. My parents belonged to the Book-of-the-Month Club and when I got a little older I devoured their books, too! I still have all my old favorites on my bookshelves and can’t ever imagine parting with them. I was also totally hooked on musicals. I had a big collection of Broadway albums and could sing almost any lyric to any song. My dream was to be on Broadway someday.
I married my high school sweetheart who was a rock musician and composer. While he was writing songs for Sesame Street and scoring documentary films, I was having fun teaching all kinds of kids how to read, write, and perform on stage. I began writing stories, plays and song lyrics.
I don’t teach anymore, but I’m still learning a lot from children (especially my two grown ones) every time I’m around them. I love writing books, working on songs with my husband, Steven, (www.learnwithabeat.com) and living happily ever after in a beautiful small town in Western Massachusetts.
